Any tomato lover would probably agree that there is nothing finer than a nice, ripe home-grown tomato in your mouth. There is no comparing the rich, sweet, oh-so-plump goodness that is the tomatoes you can grow on the vine at home with just a little bit of love and care to the rough and tough, bland and sometimes overly processed vegetable in the produce aisle at the local grocery store.

Tool shed plans to aid in construction
Thursday, October 30th, 2008Recently, I have found the perfect tool shed plans, and I am almost ready to begin my project. I have been wanting to build a place to put my gear for a long time, but didn’t really know how to build a tool shed. Oh, sure, I have done some minor home maintenance, and with my cousin – the contractor – I even once made a porch, but there was something about building a whole building, even if it was a small one of simple design, that really intimidated me.

Care of Landscape Trees
Friday, October 24th, 2008The components of a tree can be divided into three main parts: the root system, the leaves and the woody “skeleton” that connects them. The function of the root system is to provide the raw materials necessary for growth such as mineral salts, dissolved in water, to the tree. The leaves perform photosynthesis though the absorption of carbon dioxide from the surrounding air and using the energy from the sun, convert this into the simple sugars. These sugars are then combined with the moisture from the roots to give the tree its nutrients.
